We offer three main programs: Operation Holiday Smiles, Project Birthday Joy, and Care for You Action, as well as family strengthening activities and community events.
Family Strengthening Activities
Our family strengthening activities are exclusive to the families we serve. We provide additional activities throughout the year to give our families the opportunity to engage in free, entertaining activities in an environment where parents and children in our program can engage with one another.
We provide a family festival that occurs in May to honor National Foster Care Month. We will be celebrating our Third Annual Family Festival this year (2016). Additionally, the Family & Community Engagement Committee will be introducing three new family activities in the coming year.
Our community events are family friendly fundraiser-style events that consist of entertainment and many activities for parents and children to engage in. While the families we serve are encouraged to attend these events, they are also open to the public to participate in.
We have hosted several fundraisers over the past six years; however, they have not been specific annual events. We are proud to announce we will be introducing MasqFest; this is a four-part series event. On the fourth Saturday of every month May-August MasqFest will be coming to a different neighborhood park in Council Bluffs! Sunset Park, Roberts Park, Valley View Park, and Bayliss Park will be the park hosts for each date - in that order. Bounce houses, games, face painting, food, and more will be found at each event!
MasqFest is a fundraiser, but it is also an important community awareness festival. MasqFest got it's name from Masquerade Festival. Traditionally at a Masquerade party, individuals would wear a mask to disguise who they really are. Please see our Who We Are section to read more about why masks are significant to the Share My Smile name.
